“Akebi's Sailor Uniform” Anime Releases 2 New Promo Videos

The official website for “Akebi's Sailor Uniform” (Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku) released two new promotional videos to tease the upcoming anime. The slice-of-life series is set to premiere on January 8, 2022 in Japan.

The first PV previews the opening theme song "Hajimari no Setsuna" (The First Moment) by the 16 cast members of Akebi's Class. The newly announced cast members include:

Kana Hanazawa as “Yuwa”, Komichi Akebi's mother. She works as a dressmaker at home and tailors a sailor suit for the alley. She is a graduate of Chimonanthus praise school.

Misaki Kuno as “Kao”, Komichi Akebi's little sister. She is in the third grade of elementary school.

Satoshi Mikami as “Sato”, Komichi Akebi's father. He is busy with work and usually does not come home.

Shuka Saitō as “Miki Fukumoto”, an idol whom Komichi admires.

The second PV featured the insert song "hem” by idol Miki Fukumoto.

Based on the manga by Hiro, the story follows Komichi Akebi, who lives in the countryside and has gain entrance to a prestigious middle school for girls. She dreams of wearing the school’s sailor uniform and making friends.

The characters and cast include: Manatsu Murakami as “Komichi Akebi”, Sora Amamiya as “Erika Kizaki”, Akari Kitō as “Tōko Usagihara”, Shion Wakayama as “Tomono Kojō”, Akira Sekine as “Kei Tanigawa”, Shizuka Ishigami as “Hitomi Washio”. Yui Ishikawa as “Riri Minakami”, Momo Asakura as “Hotaru Hiraiwa”, Azusa Tadokoro as “Riona Shijō”, Miku Itō as “Neko Kamimoku”, Mariya Ise as “Ai Tatsumori”, Shiori Mikami as “Ayumi Tōgeguchi”, Mitsuho Kambe as “Oshizu Hebimori”, Kaede Hondo as “Yasuko Nawashiro”, Haruka Shiraishi as “Mai Togano Konomi”, and Kohara as “Minoru Ohkuma”.

CloverWorks is handling the animation for the series with Miyuki Kuroki directing.

The manga was launched in 2016 on Tonari no Young Jump’s website in Japan and currently has eight volumes in print. No word as yet if the manga will be published in English.
