“Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall” Anime Releases New Character Key Visual

The official website for “Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall” released a new character key visual for the upcoming anime. The series is set to stream in Spring 2022 on Disney+ Japan.

The new visual teases the character "Dead Master". In the original “Black Rock Shooter” OVA, “Dead Master” is a form of jealousy that possesses the character, Yomi, when she becomes jealous of Yuu's friendship with Mato. In the TV anime, “Dead Master” is Yomi's darken persona and is awakened when Yomi's jealousy and loneliness reaches its peak.

“Black Rock Shooter” franchise began as an original character art released in 2007 by Ryohei Fuke aka huke. The art inspired a song and promo video of the same title by supercell using the Hatsune Miku Vocaloid. In addition, a “Black Rock Shooter” OVA anime film was released in 2010. A TV anime was later released in 2012 reimagining the story from the OVA. Both anime adaptations were directed by Shinobu Yoshioka and produced by studio Ordet. The franchise went on to release games, figures, and a spinoff manga.

Bibury Animation Studio will be handing the production of “Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall” with Motoki Tanaka as the director.

The “Black Rock Shooter” TV anime series was released on Blu-ray in July 2021.

“Black Rock Shooter” TV Series Synopsis: If you took the pain from the ones you loved and never gave them yours in return, would you consider that fair? Or would it be selfish? Mato Kuroi meets Yomi Takanashi on her first day of school, and wants nothing more than to be her friend. But Yomi’s life is not so simple as hers. For every blunt friendly overture Mato makes, she overlooks the more subtle emotions, and soon enough what starts with a shared love for a fairy tale turns into something much darker. All the while, Mato’s dreams show her a girl embroiled in constant battle with other girls who look suspiciously like her friends. But could they be more than just dreams?
