“Prima Doll” Anime Set To Premiere July 8

The official website for “Prima Doll” announced the premiere date with new key art and a new trailer for the upcoming anime. The fantasy anime is set to be released on July 8, 2022.

The anime stars Azumi Waki as “Haizakura”, Tomori Kusunoki as “Karasuba”, Miyu Tomita as “Gekka”, Yuki Nakashima as “Hokiboshi”, and Akari Kito as “Retzel”. The new trailer teases the opening theme song "Tin Toy Melody" by Chat Noir, a group comprised of the anime's five main voice actresses as their characters.

Story Synopsis: Cafe, Kuronekotei. It's a coffee shop in a corner of the 5th ward of the imperial capital. Working there are girls of autonomous dolls (automata) who bring together the best of technology. The great war that just ended a few years ago. They were made there as weapons. Postwar peace that soon came. Restored like new, dressed in a shiny kimono, Looking for a new role, I will raise my singing voice. Would you like to spend a wonderful time with them?

Bibury Animation Studios will be producing the anime with Tensho directing. The anime will be a part of a mixed media project, which was announced in October 2020 by Visual Arts/Key. The project will include figures, a short story serialization, and web novels.

The official Twitter also announced that the project will have two separate manga adaptations. The first is titled “Prima Doll New Order” by Yuriko Asami (pictured above) and it will be serialized under Kadokawa's Dengeki G's Comic manga label on the ComicWalker and Nico Nico Seiga websites. The second manga, “Prima Doll ~Yōkoso Kuronekotei e~” by Daiko Toda (pictured below), will be serialized on the Comic Bushiroad web manga website. No release date for either manga was announced.
