“RWBY: Ice Queendom” Anime Releases Key Art And Trailer

The official website for the “RWBY: Ice Queendom” anime released key art and promotional video to tease the upcoming new series. Streamers Crunchyroll and Rooster Teeth will simulcast the anime as it airs in Japan in both subtitles and English dubbing, with both versions premiering on the same date. The anime is set to be released sometime in 2022 but it is rumored for a Summer 2022 debut.

According to Crunchyroll, “The fan-favorite 3D-animation series “RWBY” heads to the 2D anime world with “RWBY: Ice Queendom”, a new story in the franchise that sees Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long go far past the grounds of their school, Beacon Academy.”

“RWBY: Ice Queendom” will be directed by Toshimasa Suzuki at studio SHAFT. The series is produced by Bandai Namco Arts alongside Good Smile Company and Rooster Teeth. The original “RWBY” Japanese and English dub cast will reprise their roles for the new anime. The cast includes:

Lindsay Jones (EN) and Saori Hayami (JP) as “Ruby Rose”,

Kara Eberle (EN) and Yoko Hikasa (JP) as “Weiss Schnee”,

Arryn Zech (EN) and Yu Shimamura (JP) as “Blake Belladonna”,

and Barbara Dunkelman (EN) and Ami Koshimizu (JP) as “Yang Xiao Long”.

Synopsis: In the world of Remnant, a place where science and fairy tales coexist, human civilization is plagued by deadly monsters known as the Grimm. For a time, victory by the Grimm seemed all but certain, if not for the heroism of those sworn to protect humanity -- Huntsmen and Huntresses. These warriors are trained and assembled into teams at schools like Beacon Academy, where Ruby meets Weiss and Blake -- forming Team RWBY along with Ruby’s sister, Yang. While team RWBY studies to become the greatest Huntresses the world of Remnant has ever known, they are faced with a horrifying threat...

The ending theme song "Awake" by Saori Hayami is previewed in the trailer. The opening theme song will be "Beyond Selves" performed by Void_Chords feat. L. The anime will also have a manga adaptation by Kumiko Suekane in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine.

The original “RWBY” web animated series by the late creator Monty Oum follows four girls with unique weapons and powers who are training to hunt supernatural "Creatures of Grimm". The original “RWBY” is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

Viz Media published the “RWBY: The Official Manga” series and the “RWBY: Official Manga Anthology Manga” series in English.
