“The Demon Girl Next Door” Season 2 Set To Stream On HIDIVE

Sentai Filmworks announced today that they have acquired exclusive rights to “The Demon Girl Next Door” Season 2. HIDIVE will simulcast the anime as it airs in Japan as part of their Spring 2022 Anime Season. The comedy series is set to premiere on April 7, 2022.

Sentai will simulcast the series to audiences in North America, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Nordic Countries, Spain, Portugal, Central and South America, and French and German-speaking territories. Sentai also announced it will release the anime on home video at a later date.

“The Demon Girl Next Door” Season 2 Synopsis: Our favorite supernatural powerhouse, Shamiko, AKA Shadow Mistress Yuko, aims to break the curse placed on her family by the Clan of Light. Along the way, she forms an unlikely allegiance with Momo, a rival from the Light Clan! They’ll need to work together to find another magical girl who’s gone mysteriously missing, and what this? There’s a dangerous force lurking somewhere in the city, plus Shamiko’s mysterious father might be closer than she thinks? Looks like Shamiko and Momo will have their hands full in this latest installment of ‘The Demon Girl Next Door’!

In addition, the official website for “The Demon Girl Next Door” anime released a new promotional video to tease the upcoming second season.

The cast and crew from the first season will be returning for season 2. The main cast includes: Konomi Kohara as “Yuko Yoshida” aka “Shadow Mistress Yuko” aka “Shamiko”, Akari Kitō as magical girl “Momo Chiyoda”, Minami Takahashi as “Lilith”, Tomoyo Takayanagi as “Mikan Hinatsuki”, Sayaka Senbongi as “Anri Sata”, Ayaka Suwa as “Sion Ogura”, Hitomi Ohwada as “Ryoko Yoshida”, and Sayaka Ohara as “Seiko Yoshida”. Newly announced cast members for season 2 include: Ayasa Itō as “Riko” and Takashi Matsuyama as “Manager Shirasawa”.

Known in Japan as “Machikado Mazoku”, the anime is based on the manga by Izumo Itō. Season 2 was first announced back in August 2020. Staff from season 1 are returning for the new season including Hiroaki Sakurai as the director with J.C. Staff handling the animation. Keiichirō Ōchi is, once again, handing the scripts and Mai Otsuka is designing the characters.

“The Demon Girl Next Door” Season 1 premiered in July 2019. Sentai Filmworks acquired the distribution rights to the anime and simulcast season 1 on HIDIVE in the US as it aired in Japan. HIDIVE later released the English dubbed version in August 2020. The series is also currently available on blu-ray.

The manga was launched in September 2014 and is currently being serialized by Manga Time Kirara Carat in Japan. Seven Seas Entertainment is currently publishing the manga in English. Volume 5 is set to be released in print and digitally on April 5, 2022.
