“Yuri Is My Job!” TV Anime Set To Premiere April 6
The official website for “Yuri Is My Job!” released new key art and a second promotional video along with the announcement of the premiere date for the upcoming anime. The Yuri anime is set to be released on April 6, 2023. Crunchyroll will simulcast the anime as part of their Spring 2023 Anime Season.
The second trailer previews the opening theme song "Himitsu♡Melody" (Secret Melody) by Yui Ogura, who voices the lead character Hime Shirasagi in the anime. It was previously announced the ending theme song "Yume ga Sametemo" (Even If I Wake Up From This Dream) will be performed by the lead cast members Yui Ogura and Sumire Uesaka as their respective characters.
It was also announced that the anime will have a special event with a talk show with cast and an advanced screening of the first two episodes on March 25 at the United Cinemas Toyosu in Tokyo. In addition, the anime will have an exhibit at the Infinite Co., Ltd. booth during AnimeJapan 2023 on March 25th and 26th.
The anime and manga’s tagline “Schwestern in Libie!” means “Sisters in Love” in German. This is a play on the “younger sister and big sister” system made famous by the Yuri anime “Maria Watches Over Us”. Hijiri Sanpei is directing the anime at Passione (“Citrus”) and Studio Lings, with the company Infinite as producer. Taisuke Iwasaki is designing the characters.
The anime stars Yui Ogura as “Hime Shirasagi”, Sumire Uesaka as “Mitsuki Ayanokoji”, Minami Tanaka as “Kanoko Mamiya”, Makoto Koichi as Sumika Chibana”, Yukari Tamura as “Mai Koshiba”, and Asami Seto as “Nene Nishidera”.
Known in Japan as “Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!”, the anime is based on the manga by Miman. The manga was launched in Ichijinsha's iconic Comic Yuri Hime magazine in 2016. The Yuri series currently has 11 volumes in print in Japan and has 500,000 copies (including digital) in circulation according to the publisher.
Kodansha Comics is publishing the manga in English and there are currently 10 volumes in print. Volume 11 is set to be released on June 13, 2023.
