“Lycoris Recoil” Light Novel And Manga Adaptations Released
Kadokawa recently released the light novel and manga adaptations of the hit anime series “Lycoris Recoil” in Japan. The manga was launched in Kadokawa's Comic Flapper magazine on September 5, 2022. The light novel, “Lycoris Recoil Ordinary days”, was released by Dengeki Bunko on September 9, 2022.
“Lycoris Recoil Ordinary days” is written by Asaura, the anime's story creator, with Spider Lily (pseudonym for the anime’s original creator) as supervisor and draft writer. The light novel is illustrated by Imigimuru, who designed the characters for the anime. The spin-off light novel focuses on the extraordinary scenes of the lead characters, Chisato Nishikigi and Takina Inoue, which were never depicted in the anime.
On September 8, 2022, Kadokawa announced that the light novel had been reprinted for a second time ahead of the book’s launch, and that it had reached 100,000 copies in its print run. The novel's first reprints had been announced only 17 days prior to that announcement. The novel’s illustrator, Imigimuru, released an illustration to celebrate the news. (pictured below)
The manga adaptation is drawn by Bizen Yasunori and is being serialized monthly, starting with the October 2022 issue of Comic Flapper magazine.

Original anime “Lycoris Recoil” is currently being simulcast on Crunchyroll as part of the Summer 2022 Anime Season. Episode 13 is set to air on September 24, 2022. A-1 Pictures is producing the project with Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online) as director. The Japanese voice cast includes: Chika Anzai as “Chisato Nishikigi”, Shion Wakayama as “Takina Inoue”, Ami Koshimizu as “Mizuki Nakahara”, Misaki Kuno as “Kurumi”, and Kosuke Sakaki as “Mika”.
Crunchyroll “Lycoris Recoil” Synopsis: For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all. A secret organization that prevents crimes: “DA - Direct Attack”. And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris”. This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco. Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. It's mostly tasks unbefitting of Lycoris. The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!
