Funimation To Stream Original Mecha Anime “Ancient Girl’s Frame”
Funimation announced recently the acquisition of the streaming rights to the original mecha TV anime “Ancient Girl’s Frame”. The sci-fi action series will be a part of Funimation’s Fall 2021 Anime Season Lineup.
Funimation will simulcast the series to audiences in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand as it airs in China, as well as Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Brazil with simulcast dates to be confirmed. The anime will be available in Chinese (Mandarin, PRC) and Japanese audio with English, Spanish (Latin Am) and Portuguese (Brazil) subtitles.
Funimation Synopsis: When monstrous creatures from deep space terrorize earth, a chosen group of soldiers called the Ancient Girls must protect everyone. Trained to pilot specialized mecha, Gs Frames, these girls are humanity’s last hope. Will their sacrifice be deliverance?
Known in Japan as “Tōshinki G's Flame”, the anime is produced by the Chinese companies bilibili and Seven Stone Entertainment from creator Osamu Yamasaki. The Japanese cast and characters include:
Rie Takahashi as “Reika Minamiya”. Shennon's pilot. She has an innocent and pure heart and a core strength to face any predicament.
Aya Suzaki as “Luna Mariano Perez Lupiano”. Pilot of G's frame Kukulkan. She has a military father who was killed in a deadly attack against the invasion of Nergal. She has a straightforward and serious personality, and often treats Reika and others rigorously as seniors.
Kaori Ishihara as “Jotis Pearl”. G's frame Gandharva pilot. She is Reika's superior who survived the 1st AG unit. She usually treats her harshly as the captain of the AG unit, but she has a gentle personality. She is in close with Reika's sister, Rei Ame, and feels heavy responsibility for her being shot down in front of her. She is active as a musician in peacetime and is gaining popularity.
Hiromi Igarashi as “Akhena Hakim”. Pilot of G's frame Pabilsaĝ. She is a girl who was active as a magician. She has a stronger compassion than anyone else and volunteered for the AG unit because she wanted to protect everyone's smiles. She is recognized as a pilot by snuggling up to Pabilsaĝ, who was hurt in her former battle.
Arisa Nakada as “Eyre”. A mysterious girl who was on board the G's frame, commonly known as the white giant, excavated from the Tassili N'Ager ruins. Under her guidance, many G's frames will be excavated.
Ayana Taketatsu as “Reiu Minamiya”. Reika's older sister. She has a cheerful and unfussy personality and is a versatile girl. She was a member of the First AG unit, but her aircraft was wrecked by Nergal during the battle. She is still unknown and registered as ‘MIA’.
The series premiered on Chinese platforms on October 11, 2021 and later premiered in Japan on October 12, 2021. The first two episodes of the series are currently available to stream on Funimation.
