“Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” Season 2 To Premiere April 2
The official Twitter for the “Love Live!” franchise released a new promotional video for season 2 of “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club”. The promo teased the three new cast members and announced the premiere date. Season 2 of the musical anime is set premiere on April 2, 2022.
The new cast members include Moeka Koizumi as “Shioriko Mifune”, Shū Uchida as “Mia Taylor” and Akina Hōmoto as “Zhong Lanzhu”.
The anime stars Hinaki Yano as “Yu Takasaki”, Aguri Ōnishi as “Ayumu Uehara”, Mayu Sagara as “Kasumi Nakasu”, Kaori Maeda as “Shizuku Osaka”, Miyu Kubota as “Karin Asaka”, Natsumi Murakami as “Ai Miyashita”, Akari Kitō as “Kanata Konoe”, Tomori Kusunoki as “Setsuna Yuki”, Maria Sashide as “Emma Verde”, and Chiemi Tanaka as “Rina Tennoji”.
The main staff from season 1 will return for the new season of the idol anime with Hajime Yatate, the collective pseudonym for the staff of Sunrise, being credited.
The first season of “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” premiered in October 2020 and is currently streaming on Funimation in the US in subtitles and English dubbing. The English dub cast includes: Madeline Dorroh as “Yu Takasaki”, Suzie Yeung as “Ayumu Uehara”, Kayli Mills as “Kasumi Nakasu”, Jill Harris as “Shizuku Osaka”, Shara Kirby as “Karin Asaka”, Daisy Guevara as “Ai Miyashita”, Lindsay Siebel as “Kanata Konoe”, Laura Stahl as “Setsuna Yuki”, Lisa Reimold as “Emma Verde”, and Hayden Daviau as “Rina Tennoji”.
Funimation Synopsis: Nijigasaki High School is known for their diverse subjects and the freedom they give to students. Second-year student Yu Takasaki has been turned on to the charms of school idols, so she knocks on the door of the School Idol Club with her friend, Ayumu Uehara. Sometimes friends, sometimes rivals, the members of this club each contribute their own thoughts and motivations to the group.
The “Love Live!” franchise is a multimedia project that includes anime, manga, light novels, music and video games. “Love Live! School Idol Project” TV anime premiered in 2013 with a 13-episode first season. The series continued with a second season in 2014. “Love Live! The School Idol Movie”, which was a sequel to the TV anime, was released in 2015. Seasons 1, 2 and the movie are available to stream on Funimation in subtitles and English dubbing.
“Love Live! Sunshine!!” TV anime Season 1 premiered in 2016. Followed by Season 2 premiered in 2017 and then “Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow” anime film in 2019. Seasons 1 and 2 can currently be steamed on Crunchyroll and Funimation in subtitles and English dubbing. The anime series and film are also available on blu-ray.
The new TV anime “Love Live! Superstar!!” premiered in July 2021 on Funimation. The “Love Live” franchise recently announced a Season 2 for the anime.
