“Love Live! Superstar!!” Season 2 Set To Stream On Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll announced that they have acquired exclusive rights to the upcoming second season of “Love Live! Superstar!!”. The streamer will simulcast the anime as it airs in Japan as part of their Summer 2022 Anime Season. The idol series is set to be released on July 17, 2022.

Crunchyroll will simulcast the series in subtitles in North America, Central America, South America, Europe (excluding French-speaking territories, Switzerland, Luxembourg, UK, Ireland, and the Isle of Mann), Africa (excluding North Africa), Oceania, the Middle East and CIS.

Crunchyroll Synopsis: Liella returns for a brand new season of Love Live! Superstar!!

“Love Live! Superstar!!” follows the idol group “Liella”. The original 5 member group included Sayuri Date as “Kanon Shibuya”, Liyuu as “Keke Tang”, Nako Misaki as “Chisato Arashi”, Naomi Payton as “Sumire Heanna”, and Nagisa Aoyama as “Ren Hazuki”. The franchise recently announced that four new members will join the original members.

The new cast and characters include: Nozomi Suzuhara as “Kinako Sakurakoji”, Akane Yabushima as “Mei Yoneme”, Wakana Ōkuma as “Shiki Wakana”, and Aya Emori as “Natsumi Onitsuka”.

Hajime Yatate, the collective pseudonym for the staff of Sunrise, are credited for the production with Takahiko Kyōgoku as director. Funimation simulcast season 1 of the anime in the US as it aired in Japan. Season 1 is also currently available to stream on Crunchyroll in subtitles and English dubbing.

Funimation Season 1 Synopsis: Tokyo’s brand-new Yuigaoka Girls’ High School has no history, no upperclassmen, and no reputation—its first students are starting from scratch! A team of five girls led by Kanon Shibuya discover school idols, and their hopes to do something with singing begin to grow. They begin the “School Idol Project” with a blank slate and infinite potential. It’s time for their Love Live to take flight!

The “Love Live!” franchise is a multimedia project that includes anime, manga, light novels, music and video games. “Love Live! School Idol Project” TV anime premiered in 2013 with a 13-episode first season. The series continued with a second season in 2014. “Love Live! The School Idol Movie”, which was a sequel to the TV anime, was released in 2015. Seasons 1, 2 and the movie are available to stream on Funimation in subtitles and English dubbing.

“Love Live! Sunshine!!” TV anime Season 1 premiered in 2016. Followed by Season 2 premiered in 2017 and then “Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow” anime film in 2019. Seasons 1 and 2 can currently be steamed on Crunchyroll and Funimation in subtitles and English dubbing. The anime series and film are also available on blu-ray. The franchise recently announced the “Love Live! Sunshine!!” spinoff fantasy anime titled “Genjutsu no Yohane -SUNSHINE in the MIRROR-”.

“Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” TV anime premiered in October 2020 and is available to stream on Funimation and Crunchyroll in subtitles and English dubbing. Season 2 premiered on April 2, 2022 and is currently being simulcast on Crunchyroll as part of their Spring 2022 Anime Season.
