Streamer HIDIVE announced that they have acquired exclusive rights to the upcoming fantasy anime “My Master Has No Tail”. HIDIVE will simulcast the anime as it airs in Japan as part of their Fall 2022 Anime Season. The comedy anime is set to be released on September 30, 2022.

HIDIVE will simulcast the series to audiences worldwide (excluding Asia). Sentai also announced it will distribute and release the anime on home video at a later date.

HIDIVE Synopsis: Throughout time, supernatural, shapeshifting tanuki loved playing tricks on humankind. One plucky tanuki, Mameda, is no different. But there's one big problem. She wasn’t born in the days of yore — she was born in modern, more cynical times! How can she fulfill her mischievous tanuki destiny when supernatural hijinks are a thing of the past? She finds an angle when she meets Bunko, a master of the Japanese art of rakugo, which uses storytelling to beguile its audience. Mameda is determined to use rakugo to cast a spell on humanity, but first this tanuki trickster must convince the no-nonsense Bunko to take her on as an apprentice.

Based on the manga by TNSK, the comedy anime stars M.A.O as “Mameda” and Hibiku Yamamura as “Bunko”. Hideyo Yamamoto is directing the anime at LIDEN FILMS. Touko Machida is handling the series composition with character designs by Ryo Yamauchi.

The manga, known in Japan as “Uchi no Shishō wa Shippo ga Nai”, is being serialized in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine and has seven volumes in print. Kodansha Comics US is currently publishing the manga digitally in English.
