“Bocchi the Rock!” Anime Releases 4th Character Visual

The official website for “Bocchi the Rock!” anime released a fourth character visual to tease the upcoming anime. The TV anime is set to premiere in 2022.

The new visual showcases the character “Ikuyo Kita”, played by Ikumi Hasegawa, who is a bright and cheerful girl. She is a popular first-year high school student and is the guitarist and vocalist in the band. According to the anime’s website, “She has a longing for Ryo, and her feelings may go too far ...?”

In December 2021, it was announced that Yoshino Aoyama will play the main character “Hitori ‘Bocchi-chan’ Goto”, which was featured in the first character visual (pictured above). The second visual showcased the character “Nijika Ijichi”, played by Sayumi Suzushiro, who is the energetic and cheerful drummer and organizer of the band. She is also the manager of the live music venue "STARRY" (pictured below).

The third visual featured “Ryo Yamada” (pictured below), played by Saku Mizuno, who is a cool and solitary second year high school student. She plays the bass in the band and is Nijika's best friend. Her hobbies are out of the ordinary, and she is happy to be called a stranger. She lives in a wealthy family, but she spends a lot of money on her instruments and she is always short of money. She sometimes eats weeds when hungry.

The story follows “Gotou Hitori”, a high school girl who starting learning to playing the guitar because she dreams of being in a band, but she's so shy that she hasn't made a single friend. However, her dream might come true after she meets “Ijichi Nijika”, a girl who plays drums and is looking for a new guitarist for her band.

CloverWorks will be handling the animation with Keiichiro Saito directing. The anime is based on the manga by Aki Hamaji launched in 2017. The manga is currently being serialized in Manga Time Kirara Max in Japan and recently released volume 3 in February 2021.
