Funimation Announces “Akebi’s Sailor Uniform” English Dub
Streamer Funimation announced Thursday that “Akebi’s Sailor Uniform” will premiere the English dubbing for Episode 1 on January 29, 2022.
Funimation also revealed the cast and crew for the upcoming English dub of the new slice-of-life. The English cast includes: Megan Shipman as “Komichi Akebi”, Tia Ballard as “Kao”, Erica Schroeder as “Yuwa”, Suzie Yeung as “Erika”, Pam Dougherty as the school’s principal, Greg Dulcie as “Taira”, and Kristen McGuire as “Ms. Tamura”. Alexis Tipton is the ADR Director for English dub.
“Akebi's Sailor Uniform” (Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku) premiered on January 8, 2022. Funimation and Crunchyroll are currently simulcasting the anime in subtitles as part of their Winter 2022 Anime Season lineup.
Funimation Synopsis: It’s Komichi Akebi’s first year of junior high and she has her heart set on one thing: Robai Private Academy’s sailor uniform. As the next chapter of her life gets closer, she dreams of all the exciting new experiences she’ll get to have—school lunches, classes, club activities, and of course, making lots of friends! With her favorite outfit on, Komichi feels ready for anything.
Based on the manga by Hiro, CloverWorks is handling the animation with Miyuki Kuroki directing. The manga was launched in 2016 on Tonari no Young Jump’s website in Japan and currently has eight volumes with 500,000 copies in print. No word as yet if the manga will be published in English.
