“The Demon Girl Next Door” Season 2 Anime Releases New Video Teaser
The official website for “The Demon Girl Next Door” anime released a new promotional video to tease the upcoming season titled “Machikado Mazoku 2Chome”. Season 2 of the comedy TV anime is set to be released in April 2022.
In addition, the website announced officially that the cast and crew from the first season will be returning for season 2. The main cast includes: Konomi Kohara as “Yuko Yoshida” aka “Shadow Mistress Yuko” aka “Shamiko”, Akari Kitō as magical girl “Momo Chiyoda”, Minami Takahashi as “Lilith”, Tomoyo Takayanagi as “Mikan Hinatsuki”, Sayaka Senbongi as “Anri Sata”, Ayaka Suwa as “Sion Ogura”, Hitomi Ohwada as “Ryoko Yoshida”, and Sayaka Ohara as “Seiko Yoshida”.
In regards to the returning staff, Hiroaki Sakurai will be the director with J.C. Staff handling the animation. Keiichirō Ōchi is, once again, handing the scripts and Mai Otsuka is designing the characters.
Known in Japan as “Machikado Mazoku”, the anime is based on the manga by Izumo Itō. Season 2 was first announced back in August 2020 with a short teaser trailer.
“The Demon Girl Next Door” Season 1 premiered in July 2019. Sentai Filmworks acquired the distribution rights to the anime and simulcast season 1 on HIDIVE in the US as it aired in Japan. HIDIVE later released the English dubbed version in August 2020. The series is also currently available on blu-ray.
Synopsis: Yuko Yoshida is just an ordinary schoolgirl — until one day the demon Lilith unleashes her dormant, devilish powers! Yuko transforms into Shadow Mistress Yuko, a supernatural powerhouse with horns and a devil tail. Now she must defeat another mystical being named Momo Chiyoda, the shrine maiden of the Light Clan who just so happens to go to Yuko’s school! But being a demonic magical girl isn’t as easy as it looks, and Yuko has a lot to learn before she’s ready to fulfill her destiny.
The manga was launched in September 2014 and is currently being serialized by Manga Time Kirara Carat in Japan. Seven Seas Entertainment is currently publishing the manga in English. Volume 5 is set to be released in print and digitally on April 5, 2022.
